Alaric is a Mentor for syllabuses 1, 2, and 3. He has been training students to become Iyengar Yoga teachers since 2003. He was an apprentice for four years to Sally Sullivan and Steve Richardson on the Maida Vale Teacher Training programme and received his Senior Intermediate III teaching certification in 2006. He has postgraduate qualifications in linguistics, education, psychology and psychotherapy and taught English language for many years.

Learning to be an Iyengar Yoga teacher and gaining further teaching certification is done through attending classes and workshops with your mentors. An ongoing teacher student relationship is essential in your journey.

Before starting as a trainee you need at least three years of classes with a certificated Iyengar yoga teacher.

Alaric offers ongoing workshops both in-person and online focussing on how to become a more effective teacher. Depending on attendees needs, the workshops cover postures on syllabuses 1, 2, and 3.

These workshops are a great opportunity for teachers and trainees to practice teaching and to offer and receive support for their teaching through the week. Many students prepare in advance of the workshops and receive feedback from me. I am a qualified group facilitator and committed to ensuring that these teacher development workshops create supportive learning for all participants. I am particularly interested in maintaining a supportive community of fellow practitioners.
